Amigo Health AI ("Amigo", "we", "us") operates the Amigo mobile application. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly:
- Account information (email address, name)
- Profile data (age, height, weight, gender, activity level, dietary preferences)
- Meal photos you capture or select from your gallery
- Chat messages and voice inputs with the AI health coach
- Health goals and tracking data
With your permission, we also access:
- Camera — to photograph meals for AI-powered nutrition logging
- Photo library — to select existing meal photos
- Health data (Apple HealthKit / Google Health Connect) — to read steps, weight, heart rate, sleep, active energy, and other metrics you choose to share, and to write nutrition and water intake data
- Microphone — for voice-based chat input
Apple HealthKit Integration
If you grant permission on iOS, Amigo reads data from Apple HealthKit — including steps, heart rate, sleep, active energy, weight, and similar metrics — and may write nutrition and water intake entries you log in the app. HealthKit data is used strictly to provide personalized health coaching, progress tracking, and insights inside Amigo.
In accordance with Apple's HealthKit policy:
- We never use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or other use-based data mining.
- We never sell or share HealthKit data with third parties for their own use.
- We never disclose HealthKit data to data brokers or information resellers.
- HealthKit data is not used for any purpose other than providing you with health and fitness features inside the app.
You can revoke Amigo's access to any HealthKit data type at any time from the iOS Settings app → Privacy & Security → Health → Amigo.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide personalized AI health coaching and nutrition analysis
- Analyze meal photos to estimate nutritional content
- Track your health goals and calculate progress
- Sync health metrics between your device and your Amigo profile
- Improve the quality of our service (excluding Apple HealthKit data, which is never used for this purpose)
AI Processing of Your Inputs
Amigo uses large language models and multimodal AI models to provide its core features. Your text messages, voice recordings, and meal photos are sent to AI models to generate coaching responses, nutrition estimates, and health insights. AI processing is performed by the third-party AI providers listed below under strict data processing agreements. AI-generated outputs are estimates and may contain inaccuracies — see our Terms of Service for details.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted infrastructure) and encrypted cloud storage for media. All health and personal data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest using industry-standard encryption. We apply access controls, least-privilege policies, and routine security reviews to protect your information.
Push Notifications
If you enable push notifications, we collect a device token (APNs token on iOS, FCM token on Android) to deliver notifications such as goal reminders and streak updates. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using Amigo, you consent to the transfer of your data to these countries. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this policy.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase — authentication and data storage
- Amazon Bedrock & Google Vertex AI — AI health coaching, meal analysis, and nutrition estimation
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications
- RevenueCat — subscription management
- Apple Health / Google Health Connect — health data sync (with your permission)
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You have the right to delete your account and all associated health data at any time:
- In-app: Open Amigo → Profile → Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, meal logs, chat history, health goals, and all other data associated with your account.
- By email: Contact support@amigohealthai.com and we will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.
Deleted data is removed from our production systems and from encrypted backups in the normal rotation cycle. HealthKit data on your device is not deleted by Amigo — you can manage it through the iOS Health app.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated health data at any time (see above)
- Revoke health data permissions at any time through your device settings
Legal Basis for Processing (EEA Users)
If you are in the European Economic Area, we process your data based on:
- Your consent — for health data access, push notifications, and camera/microphone usage
- Contract performance — to provide the Amigo service you signed up for
- Legitimate interests — to improve our service, prevent fraud, and ensure security
You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your device permissions or contacting us.
California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt out of the sale of personal information — we do not sell your data
- Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Children's Privacy
Amigo is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
